Fred Difrancesco

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of the charismatic and incredibly talented Fred Difrancesco, affectionately known to his loved ones as "Butch", on August 28, 2026. He was born in Geneva, IL, on August 9, 1943, and spent a fulfilling and joyous life of 83 years, profoundly touching the lives of those around him with his infectious humor and quick wit. As Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, "It is not length of life, but depth of life." Fred, indeed, lived a life of great depth, filled with love, laughter, and countless memorable moments.

Fred was a top foreman engineer at National Lock and was recognized for his exceptional talent in his field. He was a man of diverse interests and hobbies, which ranged from farming and gardening to working on cars. He was an avid reader, a guitar collector, and a dedicated researcher. Fred had a deep love for the environment and was passionate about taking care of himself while also caring for others. Fred's unique blend of humor and storytelling abilities made him a delight to be around and the epicenter of any gathering. His wit, coupled with his innate ability to make people laugh, will be cherished forever in the hearts of his loved ones.

Fred was a pillar of strength and love for his family and friends. He leaves behind his sister, Melissa Mercer, and his loving daughters, Amy Muenchow, Andrea Najdowski, and Deborah Williams. He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Marguerite Difrancesco. As we mourn Fred's passing, we also celebrate his life, remembering him as a man of great character, charm, and an indomitable spirit. In the words of Shakespeare, "All that's past is prologue." Fred's past was a prologue to the rich legacy he leaves behind.
