Margaret Boggess

Margaret Elizabeth "Peggy" Boggess, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and devoted friend to many, passed away on June 5, 2026, at the age of 81. She was a woman of unmatched warmth, energy, and a lifelong calling to care for others. Born on July 3, 1944, in Brooklyn, New York, Peggy was the daughter of Leonard and Margaret Maldonado. As the daughter of an Army doctor and later an Army spouse herself, Peggy spent much of her life moving from place to place, building friendships wherever life took her and calling many places home. Peggy received a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Nevada, Reno. She began her career as a special education elementary school teacher and later became Vice President of Habilitation for Brevard Achievement Center. Whether in the classroom, the workplace, or her personal life, she showed up with compassion, advocacy, and an unwavering belief in human dignity. Peggy is survived by her daughters, Tracy (Mark) Riedl and Darcy (Chris, deceased 2023) Stefano; her granddaughters, Clayton, Brantly, and Sawyer Riedl; her brothers, Leonard "Chip" (Melanie) Maldonado and John (Rebecca) Maldonado; her bonus daughter, Claire (Todd) Shingler; her sisters-in-law, Linda (Rodney) Falmlen and Jill (Bill) Blanc; and her many nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Boggess. To be in Peggy's life was to feel cared for. She didn't just welcome people into her life; she opened her home to those who needed support and stability, and over the years many people lived under her roof. Caring for others was not something she did occasionally; it was simply who she was. Peggy was an avid reader who loved cruising and a good road trip. Closer to home, she found equal joy roaming the aisles of her favorite Walmart or creating something beautiful with her hands, whether a macramé wall hanging or a piece of ceramic art. Those who loved her will never forget the sound of her voice calling out "Hello!" the moment she walked through a door, a greeting that was less announcement and more embrace. Her perfect day began at sunrise, with a completed to-do list before most people had their coffee, followed by an afternoon floating in her pool lounger, book in hand, Diet Coke nearby, with nowhere else to be and nothing left undone. Of all the roles Peggy held throughout her life, being Grandma Peg was among her favorites. Nothing brought her more joy than spending time with Clayton, Brantly, and Sawyer. She celebrated every milestone, big or small, and took genuine delight in their stories, accomplishments, and adventures. Her granddaughters were a constant source of pride, laughter, and joy, and being their grandmother was one of the greatest privileges of her life. Though her absence will be deeply felt, her family finds comfort in the countless stories, traditions, and moments that keep her memory alive. Her kindness, resilience, loyalty, and grace will continue to guide those who loved her. Peggy's life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and her love remains woven into the lives of all who knew her. In honor of her love of the water, her ashes will be scattered at sea.
